Proud to be an American and a Coloradan...

As many of my readers may know, Colorado has been experiencing some horrific fires this Summer and one hit a little to close to home and ravaged parts of my hometown of Colorado Springs. I was so happy how our community came together to support one another in this crazy time. It made me proud to be a Coloradan.

With the fires brought strict bans on fireworks this year, but that didn't matter to us on the 4th of July because we didn't need the noisemakers or the bottle rockets to put a smile on our face. Just being around one another made the day perfect. Our cousin Phil from Iowa, and cousins Shelly and Quint from Georgia were visiting too. We were so glad to have them in Colorado. BBQ, family, laughter,  and fireside chats were the plan for the day and what a great day it was!

Cheers to the 4th of July

 Family time!
 Katelyn and her Grandpa
 My Dad manned the grill
I was so happy he got to be with us on the 4th of July. He normally has to work on holidays
They were ready for some dessert
My Mom, cousin Shelly, Aunt Patty, and Aunt Deb
Since we couldn't do fireworks we improvised and used glow sticks instead
Laura and I tried to put on a light show with the glow sticks lol

Another thing we did was put glow sticks in balloons and then blow the balloons up. The boys loved it!

Those are the boys with their glow sticks. I know it is a crazy picture, but they were having a good time running around the yard with their glow sticks in hand.
