Before coming back to Savannah, my parents, sis, the boys, and I all went on a road trip to Texas to visit my grandparents (my Dad's parents) in Uvalde (unfortunately Kyle couldn't make it because he had to prepare for training in Salt Lake, which is where he is currently). The road trip went alright for the most part. The boys of course got antsy eventually. You can only watch so many DVDs ya know.
We were prepared and had coloring books, cars, train, planes, trucks, books, and plenty of snacks, but as prepared as you could possibly be I don't think you can ever do enough to not have any meltdowns on a road trip with an almost two year old and a three almost four year old. Their nature is to run around like lunatics, not me strapped in a seat like lunatics lol. We made the drive down as fun as possible and my mom did an awesome job of entertaining the boys with her silliness. I can remember growing up and going on road trips my Mom was always there to entertain us when we started getting delirious.
Kaden hadn't gotten to meet his great grandparents yet and he took to his Great Grandpa instantly. It was the cutest thing ever! He wanted to cuddle on his Grandpa and sit on his lap.
He loved trying on his hats and even snuggling in my grandpa's arm chair. My grandparents have an amazing yard that my Grandpa keeps so well kept and he enjoyed taking the boys outside to play in the yard (pics of that to come) when it wasn't too hot outside. That Texas heat is brutal! I think it is hotter in Uvalde than it is here in Savannah. The boys had such a blast running around the house and exploring new territory, which meant new things for them to get into :)
Kaden and Kaleb found these walking sticks and imagined
they were cowboys and rode their horses around the house

Simple time spent with family is one of life's most precious gifts. I love it when the boys can just hang out and entertain us when we are all together as a family and they can just be silly little boys and not worry about any other cares in the world...
